Post by: joesgti on 28 April 2008, 16:50
Right, i found me some R32 rear lights for 180inc delivery and vat. but they are out of stock at VW. so a 3 week waiting list!! FOOOK that!! anybody know anywhere that they are either the same price or cheaper with fast delivery, tried vag parts and 191inc postage and vat but still o/s

Please help, im hoping that by removing the big gay red ones, it "might" make my red centers look better

I'm going to invest in a set of the ED30 ones, they look coooooooooollllll

Is there a walkthrough with piccys for us noobie light guys please

Dont want to break anything! Am I right in saying that they will work without any wiring changes, and no VagCom needed for those that dont have it?

I remember reading somewhere about the reflectors needed, are these already part of the UK ED30 lights?

Thanks in advance for any help chaps !

The lights come with reflectors, and its a really simple job.

Here's a before and after for you all.  note the "pink"

They both have reflectors, do you have to use them, and where do they go? I thought the lights already had them built in?

They do seem to always come with the reflectors - but you only need them if you have the R32 arse end

Don't get it??

If they are the same lights why would the R32 need reflectors and not the GTI/ED30???

I've just ordered them as well from a VW dealer nearby, we bought them as a group and were able to negotiate a price of 200 EUR.
There's also a dealer on german eBay which sells the for about 200 EUR incl P&P as well.

No idea why the R32 rear apron needs reflectors, have a set of the lights ready to go on ;)

....I don't know for certain but I think the R32 spoiler has reflectors due to laws in other countries, especially the U S of A. Earlier production ones didn't have them in the UK.

....Hi Rob

I thought I wouldn't like the reflectors at all but they look much better in real-life. Though I think that they probably look better on my red car because they don't visually stand out so much.

Is there a step by step fitting guide anywhere, I'm thinking about investing but unsure on the inners. Do you have to strip the boot apart?

Bolle, thanks again.

Hi guys
I'm interested in these myself...

I'm just wondering if you buy these lights on ebay or from fischer, do they suit RHD cars? Aren't the foglight/reverse light on opposite sides on LHD (continental) cars? If you get an LHD set, wouldn't you have a problem with the reverse lamp lens?

cheers!

....There's a whole thread on this subject in great detail if you do a Search.

In short, it's easy to just swop the reverse and fog inner lenses without any rewiring.

I got my set last week, and can confirm its a very easy job to do. You just need a small straight screwdriver, a small cross head/pozi drive screwdriver, 10mm ring spanner and 10mm ratchet. The fog light and reversing light "inners" can be popped out and swapped over by undoing 3 screws on the back of the inner lights, then there are 3 tabs you prise out with the small screwdriver.

The whole job took me about 30 mins from start to finish, including waxing the bodywork behind the lights once I'd removed them!

No wiring changes or Vag Com required, just plug in and play.

They look an awful lot better than standard pinky ones.

Thanks Red / NewGolf, thats good news. Some online sellers specify rhd/lhd, some don't. Sounds like it doesn't matter either way!

Thanks a lot... I haven't decided whether I'll get them for definite yet, (budgetary contraints, etc!), but its definitely something I'd like to do.
