Hi...
I have a 1992 MK2 GTi, and 2 weeks ago my central locking stoppped working. I was adviced on here that it would be the pump located on the left hand side in the boot. I changed this with my mates one just to make sure but still the central locking did not work...
Now I have no idea whats wrong.... Can any1 please help.....
My other question is what do you experience when you need a new rotor arm....? Does the car not rev easily or does it not pick up speed at lower revs easily....?

Exactly the same trouble im having with mine. I have now bought 2 pumps from scrappys and still no joy. Mine makes a whirr noise from motor but still does not operate all locks. Any ideas??

its the vaccum pipes that are split or disconnected. Check all of the piping and you should find afew broken ones.

Hi..
I have been told that on the drivers door there is a seperate motor mechanism on factory fitted Central Lockings. Maybe there is some problem from there. I will try from there or just run along the whole of the vacume hose and figure out if there a leak at all.
The funny thing is that i can hear on the drivers door that the doors are trying to lock but in actual fact it does not lock....

to find out if you have a leaky pipe, disconnect the pipe from the pimp, blow down it have someone in the car to listen for any leaks.
You wont hear any if the pump is going, i had that trouble, it was a lose pipe i could hear the air leak :smug:

yeah blow into it but to truly find out if its leaking, tape off the other end or get a mate to put his thumb over it and blow in the other end of the pipe. If theres a leak you will be blowing, if theres no leak then all the air in your lungs will remain in your lungs :laugh:

yeah blow into it but to truly find out if its leaking, tape off the other end or get a mate to put his thumb over it and blow in the other end of the pipe. If theres a leak you will be blowing, if theres no leak then all the air in your lungs will remain in your lungs :laugh:
would that work the other way round?
take the pipe of the door mech put it in your mouth and activate the pump...........BANG!
call a doctor ! my lungs have popped! :laugh:

Hey....
I tried blowing down the vacume pipe after removing it from the pump end. I just could not blow through, i take it this means that there is no leak...? What next....? Funny thing is the other day it decided to work when i pressed the alarm fob to deactivate the alarm.....

grease up the mechanical parts, thats all i can think of. or get an electrical, more efficent set off ebay ;) thats what i did!

I risked buying one from Stevens in Cambridge, luckily they had one on Ebay with a 90Day guarantee and won it for £1.04 with a £5.00 Delivery, yep a bargain. Put it on and works fine.....
