Title: Forte diesel treatment
Post by: Dubbz on 28 April 2008, 11:45
Hello peep's.
I'm thinking of getting some of this stuff ^^^^^ where's the best place to buy it? or is there another type product to use?
I'm getting pretty poor mpg av 45mpg on a 301 mile trip  used half a tank of derv!! i was hoping for at least 50mpg  i know my car is heavier than a manual being an auto/tip, or am i expecting toooooooo much?

Cheers.

Dubbz.

i've heard good things about Forté not used it myself though.

best place is ebay as its meant to be trade only so you'll probably not find it elsewhere.

45 mpg is pretty low, might be worth checking your air filter and hoses for any leaks too

Get Forte from Ebay - i found some for about £5 per bottle so don't pay silly prices

i put half a bottle through every 5K or so; not sure if it helps as i do fill up with Total Excellium which is supposed to do a similar thing - clean the fuel system.

What dilution did you put in, in the end??  Got a bottle of this now and the bottle is 400ml, and the dilution instructions are -

add one 400ml bottle to the contents of a diesel tank of up to 100litres capacity, or at 0.4% by volume for larger capacity tanks.

Ok so are people just using half a bottle per mk4 tank???

With my last bottle i wacked the whole bottle in half a tank.
The first bottle i put in was with a full tank.  :lipsrsealed:
I did read on the other site about putting it in the fuel filter and have some going in the pump neat?  :undecided:

Putting it in the fuel filter?? Eh? where did that come from??  I'm just going for the old fashioned- bosh- in the filler neck approach!

BUT does it make any difference if you put it in an almost empty tank, then fill up, so leaving it sitting in the bottom of the tank, or other way round- fill up the tank with fuel, then add the forte (so it'll be mixing in from the top)?? Dilemma I know!?!
