After spending a not inconsiderably sized sum, and a lot of time, on coilovers, laser alignment, new steering wheel, new lights, rebuilding the chin spoiler painting the eyebrow, etc, etc. This month has been a bit of a birthday bash for the cab.
But, there I was thinking how nice she is starting to look for the summer, when I spot a rather large pool of water forming under the engine!! The immediate panic of even more excessive amounts of my "hard earned" cash flying out the window, was soon quelled when a closer inspection showed the flange for the coolant pipe on the side of the block was doing its best impression of a broken fire hydrant, and squirting the contents of my coolant reservoir everywhere.
One quick trip to the local VW dealer, and ?5.30, and a few cut knuckles later, the little cab is looking cool, and feeling cooler - and probably dreaming up some other way to strip me of few more quid!
The things we do for love, eh!!!

Its common for them to fail.......is yours the bacolite type.......I noticed that my old 1982 GTI has a metal one..............with no signs of leakage.

It was. The replacement seems to be made of different material though, still some form of plastic though.
Its getting to the point now, where everything has been replaced in the past 6 months, from Brake lines, to fuel lines. So hopefully I am on top of the aged and ailing parts.
