Just curious what sort of temperature range the oil should be at during normal driving conditions like sitting in traffic or on the motorway? Mine normally sits at 96 or 98 degrees once the engine has been on for a long time but does not get any hotter. However i noticed it did reach 100 earlier today when i had the air con on but it soon dropped back to 98 again.
What do yours normally sit at?

Had my 16v a month now, i cant remember seeing it over 90 on a journey, but my journeys are normally between 10 and 20 mins
-
In the 14 months i've had my valver Ive never seen it go over 90 either.
I dont thrash it though.
Normally sits at 86.
-
In hot weather I have seen mine well over 100.
was told its fine up to 140!
Winter mine sits at anything from 88 to 98.
-
Dont get confused with water temperature as that sits dead on 90 as the norm
Oil only goes over 100 when driving hard
-
Ive seen my 8v touch 104 when its been well and truly abused but normally sits about 92 - 94 with long journeys,
may mean it could do with an oil change ????
-
Yea you dont want water temp over 100!
Mine was up at 112 one day and asked on here and was told that it was well withing the norm. was a hot day with air-con on.
-
Mine sits at between 102 and 108 on the track. Upto 100 in traffic and between 90 and 94 on the motorway.

Yeah - the water temp sits smack bang in the middle of the gauge.
Actually quite shocked how high some of these figure you guys are posting. Like I said, I rarely see mine hit 90.
Mabye I should drive it harder!
-
mine went to 112 before when stuck in crawling traffic!! but normally it's around 90-96 on a longer run
-
mine sits about 96-98 on normal drive. 102-106 when ive had a heavy right foot
-
looks like im well within the norm then. It only gets this warm on a long hard drive anyway :D

Mine sits at 77 most of the time gets up to 90 on a hard drive or motorway
