Hey guys, I was wondering the other day, Im used to my polo and when I'm driving about in that I can just flick the full beam stalk to flash other drivers thank yous or whatever, only, with the golf it doesn't do anything unless the lights are on, just wondering if thats normal or if I may have a fault in my wiring somewhere. . . or do you lot just flick your light switch?
-
yer if i touch the full beam switch in my 1.4 with the lights off it flashes, so i can say thankyou etc to other drivers during the day
-
yep on my 16v GTi if i flick it towards me(i think) and it flashes whether the lights are on at the time or not.
so you have a problem somewhere then
-
I can't understand that, the full beam works fine when the lights are on. . . anyone else have this problem?
-
Nope. My lights flash when the stalk is pulled.
-
It could be an issue in the stalk itself. Probably a pretty pricey part just to try out though. Consider swapping stalks with a mate to see if that does anything for you.
-
Tbh, some times you have to do a bit more than a "flick" to get it too flash

I dont, its a positive movement and works everytime for me.
Possible that some people have used it more than others and maybe some peoples stalks are more worn than others

but surly if that were the case I wouldnt be able to use my full beams at all. . . or could it be a flasher relay perhaps? Me thinks so
-
Is there a relay for that?
Checked mine when i went out, it is just a flick, my bad. lol

Told you so

mine flash with just the sligtest pull on the switch.....but it is fairly common for the stalks to fail but normally you'll get some smoke too!!
