Title: Wheels are on :D **Shes ad a bath**
Post by: bored_Welsh_lad on 27 April 2008, 10:01
Hey all,

the tyres turned up last night, so today i got them fitted and threw them on the car..

the 7.5s on the front caused a bit of bother with the 288mm discs n pads, ive had to run 5mm spacers and take a small amount off the bottom of the pads because they were fouling the wheels...

well here are the pics, i really need a decent backbox now though...

and i fitted my steering wheel

Post by: VW_08 on 27 April 2008, 10:36
nah i always say to people dont do it, when they talk about de-arching, i just think they look better and more beefy with the arches on.

I need to get some back to black or something on mine soon when the weather gets better.

Looks awesome with those rims on mate, you have any trouble fitting the rears? Also is it lowered at all looks kinda curb friendly at the front anyway. Cage in the back looks smart too!

Post by: golfmk31993 on 27 April 2008, 11:49
are those tyres stretched or somthing? they look aewsome, ive seen alot of golf's with tyres like that and always wondered if they are just tyres that are to small for the rims, can you put those tyres on any wheels? like my league integral's?
Title: Re: Wheels are on :D
Post by: VW_08 on 27 April 2008, 11:52
Tyre is stretched over the rim yes, its the wider rim that makes it look like that, not the tyre
Title: Re: Wheels are on :D
Post by: bored_Welsh_lad on 27 April 2008, 12:02
Theres hardly any stretch on them if im honest with you, running 215s on a 9inch wide... gives a nice little stretch though

yeah bumper care aka snot lol.. have you seen the stuff.. lumpy as you like

yeah its on coilys mate, the backs went on easier than the fronts 2bh, cos the 288mm calipers didnt like the wheels, i had to nick a touch off the bottom of the pads..

The back is rubbing so i need to take her up a touch and the fronts been dropped about 15mm more now.. looks much better!!!!

The bumpers havent been treated for 8mnths lol...so thats the first coat in a while.. it will have another coat of bumpercare and wax... if you compare the splitter to the bumpers you can see how much its dyed it already.

Cant wait to sort out the tinting of the indicators and rear lights... im running 5mm on the front already.. i dont know if i want to take it out further if i can help it.. dont wanna put no extra force on the wheel bearings

oh god yeah you can see the difference, i was just saying not as black as it could be, but then again i didnt know you have to put more layers on
I think i asked before but you didnt answer........... when you put this stuff on the bumpers, door trim etc, when you come to wash the car do you find it gets onto the paint work and makes a horrid waterproof effect on the paint work?  i had that when i used Back to Black on my old polo years ago, and it was terrible for that.
Suppose im being fussy but i found it annoying going all over the paint work, and then it never goes away because it sits in your sponge

For the tyres & plastic trim (exterior) I'd suggest Megs Endurance gel....

For the wheels, just use the wolfgang sealant & a layer of Dodo.....

Black WOW is the best product I have ever used, damned expensive but it seems to last forever, brought many a piece of weathered grey plastic back to a gleaming black finish

black shoe polish the one in the bottle with the sponge on the top

I put Chemical Guys bumper Gel on mine. it really is very good, beads and lasts a good while. plus you get a nice aplicator with it

through my experiance of panel beating you dont need back to black to bring faded bumpers back to life!

all you need is a hot air gun, hold the gun about 2-3inches away from the bumper and just run over it carefuly bit by bit and they will start returning to go black again! but mask off the edge of the painted parts as if you go to close you will melt the paint!
this aint no bulls**t i made up as it really does work and it lasts alot longer too!

as i said try it but be very carefull not to melt your bumpers!

haha thats probably what id do so i dont think ill do that, anyways my trim isnt grey, just not as black as it could be.

Someone on another forum said megs endurance aswell so ill get some of that next time im in town, and i can use that on my tyres aswell, bonus!
