Title: Amp power cable through the firewall
Post by: Shady Pioneer on 26 April 2008, 18:09
I looked at the car today to see where I could thread the wire through and noticed behind the main console at the centre is a hole with a pipe leading out, this pipe is plastic and doesn't lead anywhere further once it reaches the holes entrance but wondering if it's safe to have the power cable run through there as it means I don't have to do any drilling or messing around.

when i wired up neons, i found a hole. It is sealed with a rubber thing, that you will need to cut. I recommend cutting an "X" so the rubber seal is there but wires can be feed through.

The hole is on the left side of the wall. It is under the glove box area. There is a like a foam sheet above the footwell. This needs to be removed (or just moved down a bit) so you can get access to the hole. I dont think i explained it very clear, so you can search for it yourself. As a guide, you can look in the engine bay and to the right there is a black circle, this is the hole.

Sorry it isnt clear, but it aint easy to describe!

Interesting...I've been told about this hole as it's where existing wiring goes to and from the battery.

I couldn't find it myself, but I'll have another look when I get round to wiring it all up properly.

Thanks anyway LL.

there is a few if you look in the engine bay, that hard part is findin them inside the car, i poke a screw driver through it, and then look for my screw driver somewhere in the footwell or behind the dash!

hi guys, ive found the best way to get your power cables through the bulkhead once youve found the grommet you want to go through, first thing is you need to cut a cross in the grommet, then get a length of welding rod ,poke it through the hole ,you should see it come out under the dashboard, tape your power cable to the welding rod ,then just pull it through, doesnt matter if you pull the cable from outside in or inside out(inside outs best because you dont need to pull the full length of your cable through) and once youve done that you just need to run the cable through the car. ive been using this method for a lot of years with 99% success.works well for any kind of cable or pipe. hope this is a help.i'll maybe try to post some pictures up when i do my own one, might take a while(NO BROADBAND!!!!!)
