Title: Advice on buying gt 150 anniversary
Post by: 1 gti on 26 April 2008, 13:48
Hi there. Im new to this site as Im intending on buying a golf gt 150 anniversary. I've heard 1 or 2 things which are common problems but the main problem which i've heard is the cams and lifters wear out quick on the PD engines. Is this true? Also any other advice on what to look out for would be appreciated. Many thanks.
Gareth

all of the PD engines have been know to have CAM problems, the 150 is more common as they generally get more abuse.

Most of the time this wear, is down to the wrong oil being used or not changed at the wrong time, although some people have had problems despite using the correct oil.

My TDI 150 which uses the same engine as the Anniversary (code ARL) has just passed the 95k mark and still going strong

a list of other common faults can be found
