Will it work? Being offered shocks and springs that'll lower the car by 20mm, which is what I want to make the car standard GTI height (plus won't need to tell the insurers because it's not as if anyone will really notice lol).
I think it's a different set as opposed to the standard GTI set up, that being the case, will I be able to just whack them on mine?
-
They are indeed the GTI VW standard shocks and springs...will this work?
-
Don't see why not, although don't expect a dramatic improvment in handling as the GTI suspension was never up to much.
What year was the car this suspension has come off as you'll need it of a post 95 car as pigtail sizes changed.
-
It's the same year as mine. I don't really care for handling, if it's the same as mine atm I won't notice any different. lol! I just want it a little lower so it's not so high, and standard GTI height seems about right and stops police checking me out on insurance (no point in telling insurers really).

they will fit strait on  and you will notice a big diffrence in handling compaird to gl shocks  sorry about spelling bit tired
-
Is that a definate yes? I take it it is lol!
Danke shon
-
BTW, the springs and shocks are coming from a car that has done 55K so they should be good to use yeah?
-
Should be fine and will be correct fitment if its the same year mate
-
oh thats a definate yes. and 55k better than mine lol!
-
HAHA! Thanks for the help guys, will defo be buying them then. Just wanted to make the car a bit better and my reasoning about it seems right
-
yes they will fit but I feel you'll be disppoineted with the look as 20mm is hardly anything and when suspension wears (as your's will of done by now) they sag and make the car lower... I recon you'll go down by 10mm max!!
-
By suspension you mean the one that's on my car right? If so my car has done 94K...hmm, I want the car lowered but for not alot of money, and I don't want it much lower than a standard GTI to avoid the insurance bastards.
-
What about these? They lower the car by 35mm.

yeah your current suspension is likely to be little worn and lower than standard.... I would fit gas shockers and some -20mm gti springs, that will lower your car 35-40mm
and that kit looks well priced but when they say 35mm is that from gti height or normal...could be worth an email

I emailed them to ask how low it will take mar car down by. Should hear back soon.
