Title: The Dark Side
Post by: illyun on 25 April 2008, 17:57
I've had about 20 cars in 5 years of motoring - all Golf GTI/VR6/R32's bar a Subaru STI  and a Micra 1.0  :embarassed: :lipsrsealed:  I've decided to order my next new car within a month - still keeping the Ed30, thats never going to be sold.  But after waiting for VW to bring out something a bit special - like the Mk2 G60 Limited was in its time, limited to 90 cars I think and 210bhp in 1991 - I've given up hope and am ordering a Nissan

If I was going to spend £55k+ on a car, it wouldn't be a Nissan

I would NEVER buy a Japanese car, I just love the German engineering. If I had lots of money it would be an RS4 (test drove one last week OMG!) or the R8.

Ford, bah I'd rather walk.

Seriously.

No offence to anyone who owns theres makes of cars, of course, just my opinion

GT-R

Although I can understand where New Golf is coming from as I have the same general impression of non-German cars... however, after all the reviews I have read I am converted.  But one thing about Jap car manufacturers I have to say is that they don't hold back when speccing hardcore race cars and give enthusiasts what they want.  Even the new Type-R has Recaro bucket seats as standard     Also I wouldn't want to spend £30K more on an Audi R8 when its slower and on the same level - maybe even below - the GT-R as a performance car. As for the Audi RS4     lovely when it came out but the GT-R has moved the game along...   Also, I'll still have my Ed30 to drive - should be doing 310hp by the time the GT-R arrives sometime in early 2010.

i cant find it on youtube about limited numbers, but youll need to get your name down quick for one, and then convince your bank manager to let you have the money, unless youve sold the family and your house to get one!. £60,000

Anyone remember the Skyline? You dont see many of those around these days  do you (well none where I live)?

No doubt someone will have 1 in mint condition nearby...

Dont be tempted by huge stats/figures, you have to live with your purchase day to day, and be able to sell it on when you have finished with it at the end of the day.

Hmmm I have to say I am not fully sold on it. Great car to drive no doubt about that, the way the thing handles itself with that kind of power there isnt much that can come close. in fact I would go as far as saying I would love to have one for a weekend.... but own one??? Just a step too far for me i think... althought it obviously depends on budget i woudl put the ol pennies in the bank and hold out for the GT2!!

Now there's a car even the GT-R cant touch

Yes, but its £20k more and if I had that much more to spare, I'd invest it in say a Mk6 GTI?

I've already rang the dealer in Cambridge and he told me that the order books are still open.  Oh by the way, people who order one can see it in the flesh this summer and go for a test drive a couple of times too before picking it up.  There is also a free track day provided by Nissan where you can trash - sorry I mean drive - a GT-R to your hearts content.

Damn - how did you know.  To be honest, I work as an IT Consultant but I'll have to pull a rabbit out of the hat to have enough within 18 months - maybe sell a kidney?!  Anyone need a kidney on here?
