yer im gunna fit a roof mounted aerial aswell, the wing aerial it horrible,
i just wondered, when i drill the hole in the roof how do i seal the new aerial so it is waterproof?

I've a 16v but have a wing mounted aerial (think its had an accident). Its not connected and Im looking to remove it. Got the blank off ebay, but the aerial seems tricky to get out.
Anyone got any ideas?

you gotta take the arch liner out or at least enough to gain acces to the arial, then pull it from the inside, its attaced to a braket, then on the outside u need to remove the rubber holder, mine was a real pain in the ass!!
i now have no arial at all, dont want one on the roof, gonna get a window mount one and change the front wings to later type with no hole in it..i got the bung tho to put me on, got it at the dealers.
no/hidden arial = its the future

Is the arch liner a thingy to get out?

no its real easy, just bolts round the edge, you will be able to do it by only removing a few of the bolts, enough to get your mits in, but its worth getting all the muck from behind them while your at it!!!, i had a pile about 12" square from each arch hahaha amazingly no rust what so ever :)

i see alot of golfs with lots of rust, beware!!!! usually the later mk 3's too which is odd as they were supposidly galvernised...not very well it seems...i just think they used less underseal to save on costs...im lucky anyhow as my early car is rust free :)
my ford too sufford bad but did cover 255k miles
