Those wheels look brilliant.
Where can I get a set - I cant seem to find anywhere selling them??  Do they have the white rim as standard?

I really want a set of black or dark grey wheels - but not sure on which style to get.

That place came up alot when I was searching google - but I couldnt see those wheels!
How I've tried again and its taken me to the BBS website - so I'm assuming I can phone/email them for a quote.

The RIM PROTECTOR... does that mean if I accidently kerbed it I can just replace a bit of the wheel rather than buying a new one?!

Here's a photoshop effort of my Steel Grey 3dr ED30 with the Black CH's on.
I think it looks prety cool, but my girlfriend thinks they look 'chavy'!  She also says that I like them now, but I'll change my mind in a few weeks!

Opinions please?!?!
(ignore the back brakes - If I flipped the image to make them right then the tyre would be upside down!!)

Hi, look nice those, 2 questions, did you have to buy the spiggot rings ?, or has the seller provide them FOC, and are those red badges genuine BBS, as in are they branded on the inside, its just they dont seem to fit as they should in this picture ?
Title: Re: BBS CH Black

What are spiggot rings ?

they fit inside the alloy to give correct fitment onto the hub
Title: Re: BBS CH Black
Post by: brian g on 01 May 2008, 16:05
they didn't have spigot rings with them, asked the seller and he didn't know what they were and he defo didn't have any, gave it they're not in the listing blah blah blah.
I know he should've supplied them with the wheels but decided to source them myself so I can get them fitted quicker, you know how these things can drag out on ebay
have a set ordered from PW motorsport, hoping they come tomorrow, will get picks up of them on the car tomorrow all going well

yes i much prefer the black badges too although the red ones are pretty rare and they do have a BBS part number on the back of them so are genuine but probably not made for CHs

AH OK, What did philip charge for the spiggots ?, and i believe the Red badges are a japanese market only badge, but are a genuine BBS item

ps, so i assume you think the alloys are kosha ?
Title: Re: BBS CH Black
Post by: brian g on 01 May 2008, 19:41
think it's about £34 for the spigot rings inc. postage

yes i'm certain they are genuine BBS
don't think any of the reps come in ET50 or have BBS and the part number stamped on them

had a set of CHs on my MK4 and i'm pretty sure they had the same markings on the inside
don't know the traders story but i think he must have got a few sets of unfinished wheels from somewhere because i don't think anybody would strip back silver wheels to paint them black and sell them for less than what silver ones should go for

here's another couple of pics for any doubters

Brian g did you go for the wheels from Amair 786 ? For some reason my computer does nt display most of the photos posted on this forum.  Anyhow  I am contemplating replacing my 18 " factory alloys for the black/red bbs  alloys and if spiggot rings are  required  what size or spec do I ask for ?

phillip at pw motorsport will know which to send you, just ring him  , and yes he got them from Amair
thanks for the comments guys,  mostly possitive
it's hard to make as big a visual impact as the Monzas, i don't think they do to be honest it's a totaly different look and can understand why some people just wont like them

the spigot rings from PW motor sport were the wrong ones, managed to source a set localy from Motorsport Wheels for £10 so problem solved in the end

They look mint mate

Really good on the red car too. It is definitely a car colour specific mod though

i have a couple of red GTi badges so will change the front one, not sure what to do with the back one

would love a carbon fibre front VW badge but might paint it black until i can get one

a bit confused about the comments of the car being an 05
i colour coded the kit to make the car look better not to hide it's age/make it look like an ED30
i think VW got the rear valance totaly wrong with the GTi
sorry if that's not what you meant

....A black VW badge definitely suits a red GTI imo. Also, it's a tradition going back to Mk1's.

I agree with Phil - I personally don't like black alloys on a red car and I also think that the Monza 18's are as important stylistically to the Mk5 GTI as the red grill stripe and Interlagos cloth. But, Brian's red GTI nonetheless looks good overall.

In years to come, we're going to see a lot of modded Mk5's methinks!

Gaz - I think your missus is a lady of taste - Your Steel Grey Ed30 looks best with the silver grey alloys it's got.
