Another tale of woe to add - some tosser ran in to the back of me in slow moving traffic this evening. The damage is very minor but he has left 3 small marks on the lower plastic bumper/valence. The marks are hardly noticeable when looking at the car but if you get in close you can see them and there is definite indentation if you run your finger over them. I got the guys details and told him I'd get it looked at and let him know. He was an old guy, 60-70's I'd say in a '06 Ford Focus. I'm in two minds about whether or not to go after this guy and get it fixed. The damage is just superficial and almost impossible to spot unless you are looking at the rear bumper very closely. But I'm pretty anal about my car and there are no other marks on it whatsoever. I look after the car really well and am seriously pissed off that some dickhead has marked it. I reckon I'll drop in to the dealers service department tomorrow and ask them to take a look and see what they say.
Really pissed off. The car is less than 4 months old and was my pride and joy. I could accept it more easily if I had marked it, but the fact that it was someone else is doubly annoying.
What is it with all these accidents at the moment?? These idiots are obviously out to get us. Be careful out there everyone...

thats it, mines staying in the garage!!!!!!, whats going on!!!. sorry to hear max

The lower valence is reasonably inexpensive to replace as far as I know (maybe €50 - €100), and it is probably easy enough to swap on a new one. As long as there's no paint damage on the upper bumper, you're in luck!
Unfortunately, bumps, stone chips, scratches are totally inevitable, I see a new one every time I wash mine

Get it fixed, you will never be happy until it's sorted out.
-
Holy sh1t! Not another one  It's such a crappy feeling when it happens too - hope it's not too bad and you get it fixed soon. I think I might just leave mine at the garage tomorrow - either that or get a police escort home!

Yeah I think you're right. I want this fixed. I don't think I'll ever be happy until it's returned to it's original condition.
Off to the dealers tomorrow morning then.

Try and sleep well max!, it will eat away in your mind just like the nights before you collected your prize possession.
-
WTF!!!
This si the 4th GTI crash.
We are cursed
Hope it gets sorted mate. Mines in the repair centre. I miss it
-
oh no ! gutted for you.
Maybe its VW's attempt to get the ED30 numbers back down to 1500 for legal reasons.
-
Thanks guys. It's pretty disheartening but I suppose you just have to forget about it or it will drive you mad. sh!t happens unfortunately.
I'll go up to the dealers service dept tomorrow and get them to take a look.
Watch out for the f**kwits out there trying to destroy your GTi!
-
Offer to settle for cash to save his no claims bonus and use the money to buy an ED30 rear valance to replace it with.
-
Oh no....
Not another ED30. I think I have to go with Hurdy on this one. Its a conspiracy. VW needs to reduce the number to 1500 to please the public. So they attempting to take the cars off the road. :undecided: :undecided: :undecided:
Thats terrible. What colour is yours?
-
gutted, another one down  im glad im not driving mine this week :lipsrsealed:
-
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh
I don't think I can take this any more.
Thing is - they all appear to be rear end shunts! Is there a big magnet on the back of the GTi that pulls cars towards it or something??
I was expecting the car to be a magnet, but of a different variety!

Hmmm
Sexytime attraction?
-
I'm telling you it's a conspiracy by VW UK to get rid of the extra 800 Edition 30's
Mine's stayng undercover until the routing has ended
-
Know how you feel - well I think I do... though you seem to be taking it quite well. I was hopping mad although the damage to my rear bumper was more than yours. Still, even if I had a little scratch on mine I'd want it sorted let alone an indentation. Go easy on the guy though - you don't want to give him a heartattack.

I can imagine people looking to buy an Ed30 years from now asking, is yours one of those that was hit in the VW Ed30 Purge of 2007/8?

Oh you are very mean Illyun. But you speak the truth :undecided:
-
Tough luck mate - make sure it is properly fixed/repaired now or else you will regret it later. New parts rather than a bodge job which may invalidate your VW warranty in future.
