FSI = Fuel Stratified Injection. basically a fancy fuel injector.

197bhp on Mk5 GTi, though they often round it up to 200bhp.

Edition 30 (special edition to commerate GTi's 30th anniversary) has 230bhp.

Get and Edition 30 (or commonly known as Ed30 round these part). they have better horse power and colour coded skirts and nice alloys. If you want a standard GTi then the new ones now come with leather seats as standard. I have just ordered a new GTi. I had the option of an Ed30 but I didn't feel I needed the extra power and I really wanted the leather seats as the missus got a headache looking at the tartan.

The 2.0 T TFSI Engine has a High pressure fuel injection system like a diesel engine which is able to squirt the fuel in when the piston is on the up stroke, this gives the scope to run an unusually high compression ratio, hence very good low down response and no turbo lag.

Thats why It's modest 197BHP is able to keep up with it's more powerful rivals.

Having previously owning a couple of Mk4's you wont be dissapointed with a Mk5.  Both are great cars just depends on your budget to which you choose.
