Title: do u need bumpstops in coilovers ??

as title really
got the coilovers
got new bearings and top mounts and the rear mounts

then just thought today - do i need bumpstops in coilovers ??

is it worth replacing anything else while putting coilovers on ie : axle bushes etc

The instructions that came with mine said you did, well in diagram form. But in practice they didnt fit down inside the springs anyway!

The coilies I bought had small bumpstop on them.

well got the hottuning ones from group buy
no instructions included with mine

and no form of bumpstop on them at all  :huh:

any 1 else got any help

As far as I know you don't need them as if they were fitted they too would have to be adjustable!

the helper springs should do what bump stops do.....to a degree!!

true - but will i need bumpstops or not

it aint gonna be slammed so i can clean the gutters with my mudflaps
and i aint going to be driving it like i stole it

also - is it a case of take off old suspension , put in new top mounts and install

nothing needed from old suspension??

my rear suspension literally fell to bits in my hands when I took it off today!!!!

the fronts are giving me so much grief    :cry:

the bolt won't undo, now the allen key has rounded, currently trying to drill the sides of the bolt and snap the bolt off!!!! grrrr my car always makes things harder than they need to be

should have gone to your local friendly mechanic and got them to airgun them off first and then put back on!! anyway, good luck i've been there and sworn loudly at them!!!

can i just add..... my current suspension has only being on 7 months and will be pi55 easy to remove  :grin: :grin:














oh yeh any body want to buy some 7 month old sachs/boge shockers and -40mm springs..nearly as new!!  :lipsrsealed:

thats sorted then = off with the old on with the new

any1 got pics or can tell me how to put the bearings on ??  :huh:

front struts have 2 nuts, 1 normal - 1 lock nut - both ontop of the spring mount

does the bearing go inbetween spring mount and first nut ? then top mount and last lock nut to hold in car ?

yes i'v read all the fitting guides and used the search function but not helping me

not thick or stupid either - use to my vauxhalls thats all

my old suspension is in wicked condition, can still see the manufacures labels perfect too, not bad for a 1993 car... only 91k on the clock so thats prob why they are not too bad i guess
