Has anyone else had experience of this?
I took it into the stealer today and apparently it's not a straightforward job :embarassed:
It has to go into a Bodyshop and have the complete rear spoiler removed to access the brake light. This normally results in a damaged spoiler and has to be replaced also.
It's not that they won't do it, I just don't want my 5 week old car going anywhere near a bodyshop I don't know
Has anyone else had this problem, and has it dried out naturally? Im hoping it will dry out once the weather improves, although it's been damp since I had it so Im not holding my breath
-
yes, all 3 of my GTi's have had condensation in the high vis spoiler brake light. dry weather coming will dry it out.
-
hmm, how do you change the bulb in this then ?, i would leave it to dry out mate :embarassed:
-
Yes it's a crazy design
I've heard they have to use something like a cheesewire to slice off the rear spoiler, then change the high level cluster, then glue everything back on to the car
-
Here ya go, I knew I had seen this somewhere else http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=144383

Wot he said!

Yes they are bonded on, no screws at all
The spoiler can't be cheap, plus then they'd have to paint it! Nightmare
Can't believe the design of this, one of the bulbs goes and the whole lot has to come off. Those craaazy Germans
-
Mad eh ?, how do you get the rear side lights off come to think about it ?

Yes, its partly perforated so you effectively you have to rip the perforated square out. It ok thought, slots back in place like never touched

I have noticed a bit of water in mine which dries out when warmer weather - TBH I think I would rather leave it alone that have a bodged job or replacement spoiler which doesnt match or is painted poorly.

Had it repaired a couple of weeks ago by the dealer. No damage to the car.
No "wetness" since :afro:

Interesting
Mine's not quite as bad as that. Maybe if it gets there I'll have to get it done. Don't think I could live with that.......

Mine is the same too
Bet this one gets changed in the MKVI  :lipsrsealed:

Hi guys,
I’m sure I’ve read on one of the Golf forums that the spoiler doesn’t need to be removed. Apparently the lense can be broken quite easily and replaced with new lense... might be worth a search on http://uk-mkivs.net/forums as well.
