Title: looking for full size spare wheel - 17inches
Post by: bobotheclown on 22 April 2008, 18:40
Hello! I have had a look at those comedy space saver spare wheels that come with the GTi and was wondering if anyone knew where I can purchase a 17inch Monza alloy to go in the boot? I have tried fleabay but they only sell sets of wheels and not single wheels. I would even plump for a full size steel wheel. Not really that fussy.

the reason I am asking is that the majority of my driving will be on the motorway and the space saver wheel only goes to 50mph. Can you imagine the GTi on the M25 doing 50mph being overtaken by 18 wheeler lorries. Not safe at all.

Anyway, if anyone knows a friend of a friend of a friend who can supply a steel wheel or 17inch monza wheel at a reasonable price then please let me know.

Also are there conversions for the boot so that the floor will sit flat and even once you put a full size spare in the well?

Cheers.

good idea, but there isn't any converstion you could do to make it fit in the boot. My best suggestion is to just get it fixed as soon as it gets a puncture. I've been driving 13 years and only had one puncture, so I wouldnt worry.
