here we go again :grin:
I was looking at my 1.8L engine and i noticed the block was exactly the same as the 8V GTI. First of all im going to **Try** to put the GTI Rocker cover on it as i painted mine and it looks brand new... and 100 times better than the 1.8 one. The head looks the same. Of course im let down buy a *shudders* Single point injection unit :laugh:
Which brings me onto the next question... Would the GTI Camshaft make a diffrence on the 1.8L engine? as its set for better porting etc.. Just curious... because what i realy want to know is.. Could the Whole GTI head and Injection system be fitted to the 1.8L block? I guess the block is exactly the same accept for the bore and stroke. So realy its a direct swap... So if i was to use the GTI loom with the GTI ECU etc.. I would effectivly have my self a 1.8L GTI with oversized ports?
:evil: Before you say fit a VR6 engine or something.. thats a project for my red car :laugh: And this is purly to play :wink:

could be an intersting idea... cant help if it will fit tho but I once fitted an xr3i head to a 1.3!! lasted about 3 weeks before it gave up!!
could be worth asking the mk2 guys as the mk3 engine is very similar as the late mk2 1.8 carb engine

I thought about this for my driver, my only idea though was rather than use the mk3 gti head, couldnt you put a mk2 gti head on it as they were 1.8's so it would be better? it's all far too much work and effort for me though!!!
