BEEP BEEP when locking/unlocking your car... I've read it can be done via VAG-COM but can it be done at the dealers, if so what information can I give them as I did ask about it when I first got my car nearly three years ago, but they could or didn't know how to....
Cheers

NewGolf... is the above information the same as what the dealers has ?... I'm under the impression that what you have is done via a windows PC and what the dealer has is a dedicated system....
Or can I just print the above out and ask the dealer to do that....
Cheers

Horn sounding though !!!!/ could it not be a bit loud
-
Hi... I've just rang Ricci Concept Cars and he has the VAG.com system and is able to enable this for £20 which I don't think is too bad really...
cheers

The dealer has a VAG5051, it can do everything VAG COM can do and a bit more! They can definately turn this on as a friend of mine has it. He went in and asked them for it, and had to tell them how it worked...lol!
If you lived over here I'd do it for you for free. £20 sounds fair, it should take about 5/10 mins in total.
-
let us know how it sounds :undecided:
-
yeh, get a sound clip
-
It is literally just a little chirp.
It's NOT the car horn doing it..
I was a little concerned about doing it, but it's not at all intrusive.

ahh, thats ok then, might add this if i ever get vag com
-
Yes... Its a little chirp but when the alarm goes off that little chirp turns in a very loud bark. Bloody noisy if anything.

I've dropped RossTech an email, see what price we can get from the US.

good luck to you
there was one run last year on UKMKIV's where over 100 people were involved and the guy dealt directly with Ross Tech in the States - think he got 25% off plus free shipping to the UK.
In short it was a nightmare to organise but the result was well worth it.
I got my HEX CAN lead to do MKIV's, MKIV's etc for £170 delivered. Think UK retailers charge around the £220 mark :undecided:

here's some light reading for you

EDIT - hope i haven't come across as being too negative lol but i know what hassle the guy went through to get it all organised

TBH 100 would be a mare, perhaps 20 max would be an easier target
-
TBH 100 would be a mare, perhaps 20 max would be an easier target
indeed but Ross Tech only offered discounts of 50 people and over
re-reading it it was 15% with over 50 people and 20% with over 100 people

tbh when i looked at buying one i could get it for about £170 including shipping if i found a way around the import duty bit
-
Ross Tech don't really like doing discounts.
Gendan have recently reduced their prices in the UK I think so might be worth a look.
Anyone in the Hampshire area wanting it switching on then let me know.
Over on Briskoda.net we run a register of Members with VAG-COM who are willing to help - Perhaps something the Admins here might consider.
You can also take a look in the Diagnostic Section on Briskoda.net as there may be somone listed there who is willing to help you.
-
Gendan are still £259 tho :(
http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_VCHU.html
RossTech are $349 (roughly £180)

No VAT or import duty (that I'm aware of) in the Channel Islands...

-
do you have one Newgolf ? (i.e vag com)
-
Sure do, it was me who posted how to turn the beep on earlier in the thread lol!
-
lol, to be fair you could have just got the info from someone else LOL , ps where from and how much :-)
-
got mine direct from Ross Tech, all you actually get is the special cable, the software is available to download for free. The cable plugs in and activates the software, its easy to use and well worth it. I'll go look at my invoice to see what it cost me. Gimme 10 mins.
-
Ok here goes.
1 x VAG COM Diagnostic system with MicroCAN Interface £129.00
1 x Shipping (I chose 2 day UPS) £42.45
Total delivered to me in 2 days from ordering £171.45
Not bad i thought, as I travel Europe a lot and can now change my Xenons to tourist mode without getting charged £50 each time. I've tweaked loads of things and done a few mates cars, all with the backup of Ross Tech who answer emails in a few hours.
Well impressed.
-
nice one, i guess you went for the cheaper cable then, and dont you really pay VAT !!
-
No VAT here on anything, nor import duties.
But because its an island they charge you another £995 to get a new car here from the uk
-
Well I've had it done (beep beep) along with the auto locking after 10mph and auto unlocking when removed key from ignition...
Here is a sound clip (hope it works).... one beep to lock and two to open (I think thats right)...

Nice clip. Very useful feature the auto locking and un-locking. Why doesn't that come as standard?
-
sounding good there mate
-
Are you happy with it?
I changed mine to unlock all doors and the boot with a single keypress of the remote, all doors lock as soon as I get to 10mph. and when I take the key out of the ignition the doors unlock, "coming home" lights are on, fog lights come on when the lights are switched onto high beam. Lots more you can change.

-
YES....
-
omg thats perfect!!! i neeeeeeeeed this doneeeeeeeeeeee!!
gonna ring up the dealer tomorrow and ask em to do it (free)!! see how i go :p
-
My local dealer couldn't do it... Something about not seeing the options, he was going to ask Germany about it and get back to me tomorrow but I got Ricci Concept to do it for me through VAG.com... The guy at Ricci Concept said that the print out I had given him wasn't 100% correct but was near enough to start with.... It's done thats the main thing. Even the kids liked it.. LOL... lock unlock lock unlock lock unlock lock
-
Nice to know this can be done, not sure if would get alittle annoying,
Would like the 10mph autolock setting on my new Golf though,
Is this something VW can do?
-
It's known as Anti HiJack. Autolock at 15mph and obviously unlock when you remove the key.
Turning off the seatbelt warning chime is a must for me.

Maybe he has an older version of Vag Com, I have version 704, the current available on Ross Techs Website.
-
Dealers use VAS which is not really anything like VAG-COM. For this type of thing VAG-COM is much simpler to identify the options that you want to deal with.
There is a Beta release of VCDS (the new brand name for VAG-COM) on the Ross-Tech website which I have been using and it is fine. It has a few more details in the label files for things like the RNS510.

can't you do this through the Highline computer (if you have one obviously!) :undecided:

i have Highline and im not sure you can set it from there (i may be wrong though)
-
Yes, you can select anti hijack through Highline, mine wasn't enabled from new, so I did it.
You can also set the drivers door only to unlock on first click or all doors.
-
Just to clarify...
Remote key... One click to lock all doors & boot (beep / flash) & one click to open all doors & boot (beep beep / flash flash) unless I use the key / door lock then it's lock / unlock all doors & boot (no beep / no flash).....
Auto lock at 10mph & auto unlock when key is removed from ignition.
Also all doors & boot can be unlocked / locked via the rocker switch on the drivers side door. Single doors can be unlocked with two pulls of the silver door handle / latch...
It's only been a couple of days since having it done but I'm well pleased with it...
And well worth £20 IMO....

Hi vRStu
I have just downloaded the Beta version where it states is does more, quote from their website
"these modules can be coded as well"
do you know what they are or if there are any extra features, I can't see much difference ?
-
The changelog is here -
http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/beta/current.html
I know Sebastian has updated some label files and there is also a fix for a problem with the autoupdate under vista.
-
just rang my dealer to see if they can do it... the guys a bit of a muppet so not holding my breath
-
does this site have some sort of affilation to mkv forum?

I have a VAGCOM cable - Derby area.
First thing I enabled on my Mk5, had it on the Mk1 Leon previously which was a chip, it was only a horn beep on the early Mk4 platform before they swapped for sirens.
I understand you can also disbale the dropping of the windows from the key which was a dredded Mk4 problem for those that remember.

Hmmm, I'm in Lichfield, can I blag a go to?
-
Why not try a VW / Audio / Seat specialist like I did.... Ricci Concept
-
No problem, drop me a PM and we can arrange something.
-
Another thing you can do which may help a bit while hammering down the motorway, is that if you have to emergency brake, i.e. slam on the brakes fully, not only do your brake lights come on, your hazard lights also flash until you turn them off from the switch.
Might help save a few lives.
-
well i found a guy in aylesbury who said he would do it for £5, (cost me more to get there) but its worth it :)
-
just got mine done! easy turn on via vagcom... very little "churp" not a beep or loud at all. me happy :)
