Mine needs bringing back to life and someone suggested baby oil and try to avoid anything with silicone in it
-
Armour-all
works well for me.
-
I tried baby oil once, it made a right mess when the sun had melted it a little, then it rained - horrid grease slick all down your paintwork >:( I'v tried everything I can find, the worst is the Williams F1 super spandangle, and the best of a bad lot is the Auto glym fairy liquid gloop.
I decided at the weekend that any black plastic is either being replaced with fresh new items, or is getting colour coded. Cos I'm that fed up with plastic trim looking shabby.
Appologies for sounding really grumpy ;D
-
I use auto glym, looks good for quite a while, but you need to apply it after you wash the car to keep it looking really nice.
Lots of people recommend armour-all too.
These two seem the most popular, and probably therefore the best.
-
Try wd40 if its your bumper trim
-
i use turtlewax extreme bumper and tyre shine stuff...... its has tri-silicone technonlogy!
i'm supprised how long this stuff stays on for..... kepts the bumpers black for a while!!!!!!
autoglym is good aswell but i do prefer this stuff.......

Armourall- Good

macguires- bloody amazing(but not cheap)
-
i use exterior trim renovator from poundland!
ya cant beat Poundland for value ands its not bad stuff either
-
Autoglym bumper care ;)
-
Agree with Autoglym Bumper Care.
I found that if you apply it with a sponge and really work it in, leave it a few minutes then wipe off any excess with a cloth. Usually lasts a couple of washes or more...
-
New plastic?
-
erm takes some effort and time but found black shoe polish works really well, got it as a tip from an old golf mag and been using it ever since, lasts for a good 6 or seven washes
-
do not buy the bumper paint from halfords etc it comes off in flakes and looks horrible.
oil is good but you have to buff it like a bastard to stop dust sticking to it
-
I use some bumper stuff that's made by Wonderwheels, called back to black I think. It's a white liquid that you just sponge on, and then buff up in a few minutes. It's magic stuff and lasts ages between washes...only problem is that I haven't seen it on any shelves for sale in quite some time. Halfords used to sell it, but no longer do. If anyone knows where to buy it do let me know, I've only enough left for another year probably!

hi all ,
I'd agree BACK TO BLACK is the bizz!
i have tryed using oil and other branded types but nothing leaves the bumper like back to black! and to make things even better my local filling station stocks it but i dont think its made by wonderwheels tomorrow!
Find black to black and give it a try just to see for yourself!!!

I agree with using Tutle Wax Extreme bumper + trim shine. Its easy to apply like armour all and not as messy as autoglym. Back to Black I have not tried as its a spray can and didn't want crap all over the paintwork of my white mk3.
Have not tried shoe shine wax although it may well work with a bit of elbow grease.

Now found the wonderwheels back to black stuff for sale via demon tweeks - see http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/catalogue/product_detail.asp?PCODE=WONWTT1000&GRP=MP122&PGRP=M010&CLS=MSPORT&code=WONWTT500&from=search This stuff you just sponge on, no mess, no fuss, and just keeps on shining.
-
:D I have found the best stuff to use ordinary black liquid shoe polish in a bottle no mess and comes off the paint work with no trouble at all ;D
-
Yeah I bought some from lidle today [59p W5] - works great - cept i have wax on the plastic, and i forgot to get that off before i put the polish on - doh.
Did you bother buffing it off ?
