Title: ED30 detailed and LEDs fitted
Post by: hotrod on 20 April 2008, 18:02
Hi guys,

Been waiting for a few weeks to get the car detailed and paintwork protected... and today was the day!
I’d arranged for Tim at Envy Valeting (www.envyvaleting.co.uk) to come round and work his magic, and ’Thank the Lord‘ the weather was fantastic from 9 until 4.

He arrived on the dot, worked like a trojan for 5 hours and explained the whole process to me during coffee breaks. A very nice guy and a true petrol head, he treated my car with great respect.

My car is on Detailing World if you want to take a look at this link
http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?p=806256#post806256

I also fitted the outer LEDs, which I think really sets off the rear end.

I would highly recommend Tim, I shall be using his services again soon.

Cheers... Hotrod

ps (I’m laughing now as a thunderstorm is overhead & it’s pi$$ing down... at least the car’s all protected now.)

Hi Steve

Not sure how you type a wolf-whistle (about the car, not you of course!!)

Looks f-a-b, like the lights also.

Since the crash (last Sunday) - I've only driven the car once, don't want anything to fall off  - took it out today, it looked very dusty and grimy , I think I will have to look in to doing something similar when I get it back.

Hi guys,

Many thanks for the kind words, I’m delighted with it. Car is now a little grubby but very well protected.

Cost me £120 for 5 hours work, which I thought was reasonable value. He worked solidly for the entire time and a very good guy. I was on coffee and biscuit duties.

His website has all the prices and types of service he can provide and is fully mobile. I’d never met Tim before but he had been recommended to me my another detailer, as I was struggling to find a detailer within the Dorset area. He also works on supercars and mega-prestige motors and he knows his stuff!

I’m going to use him 4 times a year to keep everything in tip-top condition. Full detail twice (with orbital buffer), partial detail (hand buffed) twice.

Also LEDs came from VW Speed via Mike... quite limited supply I believe

... cheers, Hotrod

I’m going to hang on to them, as it keeps the car original... IF I ever sell it.

Found this chap on a search, based in Solihull, sent him an email for more details with regards to detailing my GTI as it has a fair few swirls and I think its due a bit of TLC, I'll let you know what I get back.

Cheers guys,

When you say very young Shaun???  As you know I have swirls on the bonnet (from new I'd like to add) so just want it sorting, so may as well get the whole car protected at the same time

Hi All,

Just a quick hello and many thanks to Hotrod for the kind words here, and via email.
I dont want to write too much for fear of looking like I'm advertising etc, to be banned and so forth on the forum.
I had an email from Steve suggesting a look at the forum and here I am!
Its nice to have your work appreciated, and nice to work on nice cars. Have done 2 edition 30's so far and both have had great paint and were a real pleasure to work on. Having come from a performance car background it was great to see VW looking back at their heritage. Personally I've had 3 Mk2 GTi's (2 x 8v and 1 x 16v) and loved them all.
If any of you do want prices etc I'll be happy to oblige but suggest you get in contact via my website or email or I will end up getting banned!

Thanks again to Hotrod for the work, good company and excellent tea making duties and especially for the kind words..its what its all about for me!

Best wishes

Tim
