just fitted magnex backbox but it isn't any louder than standard :huh:
is it best to get a performance center section or maybe save up for a full system

you havin a laugh!!!!!!! mine is loud as hell on full chat, and mean on idle, nice and deep rumble, iv removed middle box with custom made 304 stainless pipe upto cat, richie 360 has heard mine, if he reads this post he will confirm..mine sounds fantastic

thats what i was hoping for - at least some sort of louder noise than standard
but nope, it's just like i replaced the backbox with a nice looking chrome 1 , lol
what should i do?
seen a sports cat on ebay, u reckon that would help ?

no you need to remove the middle box, they have them as standard on the golfs, go to somewhere like powerflow and have one made up.. my magnex dounds fantastic it really does, id say its perfect..wish i could some how show you

mines not magnex but at idle it no louder than normal.....but above 4000rpm it sounds :cool:
and replace the middle box like kells has before swapping the cat......

when i replaced my back box with my remus, i never really noticed any difference in sound. only when i relpaced the centre box with a s/s centre pipe did i notice the sound. now with s/s manifold and de-cat, the car is loud!!!!!!

Ive got a full Powerflow system and it sounds really good, makes people turn round and look if you boot it through the town :laugh: :grin:

To be fair if you have a 2.0 engine with a decent exhaust its impossible for it to sound cheesey, if it was a 1.4 saxo then yes it would :laugh:

so where can i get 1 of those center box replacements from that volksbits use to do
they don't seem to sell them anymore

had mine made up by my mates who run a powerflow dealership here in leeds, did me a great deal, all way up tp cat for 70 notes using the better 304 grade stainless...well happy, no knocking or anything, perfection

Was thinking of replacing the centre box on my vr, it already has a full stainless 2 box system along with decat and 6-2-1 manifold but its dead quite unless you boot it, was wanting it a little louder but worried about a lack of back pressure affecting performance so still undecided. :undecided:

Was thinking of replacing the centre box on my vr, it already has a full stainless 2 box system along with decat and 6-2-1 manifold but its dead quite unless you boot it, was wanting it a little louder but worried about a lack of back pressure affecting performance so still undecided. :undecided:
wont loose no back pressure what so ever, the box is their to make it quieter at thats all daz...trust me do it, mine drives like a complete different car, feels alot faster and alot more rev happy if that makes sense, before with the box it felt like their was a restriction... as i just said mine flys now and its just the 8v at the moment, and the sound it gives off is awesome on a VR it would be imense, do it!, you cant beat the sound of a good stainless system

just a pain having to swap over for the mot, but iv done this on my jap car and i saw a 12 bhp increase on the rolling road, so deffinatly real power gains to be had removing the cat

mine sounds fkin loud not chavy loud but rally car sound :cool: and its a magnex box !! just get a center SS buy pass pipe made up like my kells and my self have

not sure matey, be carefull with these pre made pipes as they ofern are a bad fit, as i said before mine was a custom made affair, perfect fit

I thought you could still pass an MOT with a sports Cat on! Thought it was just deCats that were a big no no!

oh yeah sorry a sports cat should be fine,i removed my cat all together from my jap car and replaced with just a decat pipe ( made as part of my exhaust custom by mongoose)

Just that some people say that a vr6 needs to have a certain amount of back pressure to get the best from it and that if i remove this box will loose some low down torque which i don't wanna do, maybe i might do it and find out for definate.
Watch the ivd of the recent rolling road day to get to see how it sounds.

DONT GET A PRE MADE ONE
Its ruiend my car and now i need to get it re made custom.
Save the money and get a full custom exhaust.

im a true beliver in the phrase " too much flow = no go" which is something the guys at Mongoose taught me whilst having the system made up for the jap car, but iv never heard that daz but i dont own the VR so its not somehting iv researched, as far as i know its just a silencer to reduce the noise level... id remove it, i bet u anything its a hell of alot better :laugh:
