Title: Mk2 valver speedo inop?

Hi I own a mk2 gti 16v KR engine code. 1990. Has has engine out several times during rebuild. I did a clutch the other week and since then the speedo hasn't worked.

Checked the cable and thats fine as is panel. Seems to be at the box side or speedo cable drive gear.

How do these cables work when in box, and could low gearbox oil cause this as I may have spilt a bit when had box out the other week.

Perhaps the drive gear has come off the end of the speedo cable ?

Took it out and it seems ok.
