Title: Another Newbie to the site (I hate being a newbie!)

Hi everyone.
Just bought myself a Mk3 8v GTI. L reg, done 108k. Bought for £550 but think there may be a few probs with it. I know it's never a good sign when they're out warming the car up whilst you turn up to buy it but I've always wanted a Mk3 GTi so I bought it. Having last had a diesel golf this drives like a dream.Loving it. Was terrible condition inside and out, just needed a really good clean though which I have done.

Is there anywhere on this site that can give me like a checklist of things to work through and check when you've just picked up a car with no service history. Apparently the cambelt was done at 92k but I have no proof of this, is there any way of telling?

I really want to give this car a proper check over mechanically without taking it to a garage so any advice or links would be really helpfull.

Try looking in the Mk3 Section mate. The child board "Maintenance" section has all you want!
