Title: Hi, new to the forum, however have had a mk5 gti for a while

I apologise if this has been covered before or is a chronic problem that has been done to death over a number of threads, so if anyone can point me in their direction, i thank you, however, i do not know where to begin searching.

Effectively the problem is this, whenever I would approach a roundabout and obviously slow down :grin: and then depress the accelerator the revs rise but then no response, no acceleration for a short period before it then starts to accelerate.

Any ideas, again apologies if already covered, if there is any further information anyone needs then dont hesitate to ask. I get the impression i`m being fobbed off by dealer so would appreciate some info from fellow V dubbers.

Manual / Auto for a start ...

Have you shown the dealer the problem, if you can get it to do it all the time then ask for a techincian to come out with you so you can show him.

Any problems when just simply revving the car?  no slipping when driving and changing gear?

july 05, DSG,32,000 miles

I have taken technician out who was there and felt what happened and said that it was because the "gearbox didnt have time to communicate with the engine"

They have now taken it in for a wk as i cant believe they would think i`d fall for that. :angry:

and in every mode of DSG ... D, S and Manual ?

to be honest its hardly never not in auto/ DSG mode. On the odd occasion i have also had it in manual it has done the same thing.

I get that on my Ed30 DSG too... also get a massive - 1-2 sec - delay sometimes when changing down gears too fast using the paddleshift.  DSG has its advantages and disadvantages just like manual.  I'd still prefer DSG for my Ed30 though - can get manual in another car.

Thinking about it mine does something similar too, unlike the manual it has to get the biting point for you so you do have to give it more throttle to go if you know what I mean - could be something is starting to go.  Would be very interested if they find a problem.

Welcome to the forum cfcdoc :cool:

The DSG shouldn't take that long to gear down. There is a noticeable pause as it plips the throttle to match the revs as it gears down, but from your description I think yours is excessive.

Thanks for noticing...  :grin:  I still visit but I got posting-fatigue around January time.  The forum used to be a bit quieter when I first joined 2 years ago and has grown to include a lot of regulars.  I found myself having to respond to a lot of posts and just got a bit tired of it.  Also had a small panic attack when I looked at Hurdy's posting stats - I could never reach those dizzy heights so just gave up for a while  :embarassed:  But I am on here on almost a daily basis  :rolleyes:

Err....just looked at my posting stats.....I gather that is a lot :embarassed:
