I've just bought a rubber sump gasket and was just wondering if anyone knows if the bolts are still done up to 20 N/M (15 lb/ft) or would it be any different ?
-
i dont know torque figure but it isnt very tight, i tighten them with a small amount of force on a 3/8" ratchet, a 1/2" would make it easy to strip the holes
-
According to the manual the torque is as above but I wondered if it was any different for a rubber gasket (does anyone know what type of gasket would have been fitted from new ?)
-
Anyone :undecided:
-
just nip them up, its not too critical!
-
you might find the original bolts arnt long enough, etka deffo lists a different bolt for the rubber gasket. as for the torque setting, I just nip them up!
-
Anyone know the correct length of bolt and where they can be bought, please help, after today I'm a man on the edge
-
Cant tell you the length but they are definately 100% different bolts to that of a cork gasket, I think i was quoted £12 for the full set of bolts from vw dealer?, That was at trade price. Give em a call

Cheers mate, you are without doubt the forum leg-end and all round top bloke

Just for the record the standard ones are 15mm so I'm guessing the extra 2mm is needed due to extra thickness of the rubber gasket !
£13.40 for all 20
