Title: Chnaging mk1 engine loom

Ok im gonna change the wiring loom in my mk1, as i cant find a mk1 loom im thinking of a mk2 8v loom and to change the conectors at the end for the fuse box, i was told ?25 for the engine loom, now any ideas on if this is a good idea, or should i get the fuse box as well  ???

Well it looks very tatty with quite a few a few cuts init, and with the burning smell last week ive decided to change it for one in better condition, the burning smell could be anything but did smell like a burning plastic smell, and dad rekons its a short somewhere, im hoping to buy a loom off oldboy when he gets beck to me with a price, we think it could be the parts that run to the lights, but we havent been able to make it do it again, but is worrying and better safe than sorry  ::)

All that and no full stops in it need go back school me lol  ;D

Found your other post in the mk1 forum, agree with rich that you should go with a mk1 loom as the mk2 has a lot of differences. It can be done with a little patience and circuit diagrams. I am sure that old boy will come back with a good deal and help out a fellow mk1 owner ;).
