Title: starting probs

hi everyone, just after some advice if anyone can help, ive got an 1999 mk4 2.0 gti, every now and again the car wont start for a few attempts but always starts in the end can take four or five atempts. Also rarely if at traffic lights the idle can shoot up to 3 grand untill i blip the throtle and it goes back down to normal. any help would be fantastic. thanks,

Could just be a sensor, you really need to plug it into vag com or a fault code reader  :smiley:

Has it been serviced properly?  :shocked:

The starting issue could be the throttle body.
Mine did that but after a throttle body clean starts fine now.

have cleaned the throttle body out today so lets hope its sorted it out. thanks again

If not mate try putting a few tanks of V-Power or Bp ultimate through.

Ive heard that can help. Or get it plugged into vag-comm
