Title: Mk2 16v - Flatish spots after 5500RPM
Post by: topbloke77 on 12 April 2008, 18:34
My car has been running fine until I took it out for a blast last night. Instead of pulling to 7000rPM smoothly, after about 5500rpm it feels like it is powering on then off then on etc etc. It still pulls through this up to the red line but its obviously not meant to be like that.......................

All suggestions welcomed................................

I ve not got a clue what it could be.

Check all the usual things you'll get told before going any further.

So start with the Dizzy, check the leads and plugs are all clean and in good nic,  how old are the fuel & oil filters? Check there are no air leaks from your hoses.

What else should he check?

Have you run it low or out of petrol lately? :lipsrsealed:  If so, then the fuel filter could be partially blocked with the crap that was dragged up from the murkey depths.

mine had a flat spot turned out to be the injector seals 60p ea from german sweedish car parts. They go brittle over time and don't seal properly
