Please forgive me if this topic has been flogged to an inch of its life but this is the first time I have posted..
My GTI has a mystery coolant leak. Despite the best efforts of my local dealer they have been singularly unsuccessful in locating the leak. So far I have had a new fan and a new bottom hose under the warranty in an attempt to keep me happy. Now the warranty has run out I am faced with the prospect of a hefty bill when the warning light goes off especially as VW do not have a latent defects policy. I did read somewhere else this problem was common on mark 5 GTIs and VW were aware of this and were suggesting replacing the cylinder head gasket with a revised model. Anybody heard of that?
cheers!

I had the same problem but it seems a replacement hose did the job to fix mine. Apparently where the hose meets the engine the heat of the engine warps the hose connector. When I got it fixed they assured me the replacement part was revised such that it wouldn't happen again. It hasn't so far after about 3 months. Sounds like they've already changed the hose (Not sure if there is more than one hose) though. Maybe see if they replaced it with a revised one or not?
