Hi folks,
After spending the past week installing the 20vt in to my mk2 I've finaly got to drive it to work this morning. All I can say is wow what a monster and I've not even fitted the jbs turbo kit yet
I would just like to thank every one who helped me out when I got stuck.
I have noticeed that i get the exhaust popping quite a bit when I let off the accelorator, is this normal??
Cheers.
Ohh I think those civic type r's better watch out

that will most likely be a air leak on your exhaust mate
-
cool man! i have a 20vt mk2 too! what ecu you running mate? mine pops like a right goodun through the exhaust when letting go of the throttle (flames too!) its quite normal, as fuel is ignited through the red hot turbo!
what engine code you got?
civic type r's dont stand a chance with mk2 1.8t's, neither do porsche boxsters and caymans!

You serious  didnt know they were that lethal
-
So so so tempting to do this conversion in a few years :D
How hard is it to do? Wonder how much a garage would charge to do the work..
-
Man this always twists me up, go for the affordable torquey 2.0L bottom end jobbie or all out 1.8t!
A mate of mine bought a new shape type r 2 months ago and has been asking me for a race lol I have told him to wait for abit...
-
Mine used to pop and bang a lot but exhaust was not properly fixed to downpipe. Does it a little now but not loads.
-
Sod the 20vt! VR6ST (Yes Super Charged & Turbo Charged)

honestly, i promise they are. ( i have just two seats, poverty spec windows etc and 240bhp) this isnt some matcho post but they do surprise you of what modern 'sports' cars can have their pants pulled down by an old car! I love it!
edit: i do have a short ratio gearbox on mine, which probably helps.

LOL!! What?
I think you will find it's called overrun. Timing needs retarding a touch.

flames on the overrun feckin rule! my bumper has gone soft above the exhaust though? :undecided:
-
I did an engine conversion on a T25 bus a couple of years back - an Audi 5cylinder - that spat flames on the over run, too - something those following it weren't expecting!
-
flames out of the exhaust ftw!
pretty sure you'll find a boxster will prob over take you in a drag race though, but off the line certainly you would win.

quite the oposite the boxster would rinse me off the lights as he has traction but from 40 to 100 the golfs quicker, but over that he has the aerodynamic advantage as his car isnt brick shaped lol

They may not be shaped like a brick but...

hmmmn...sounds like a nice conversion. type-r's are not all that. I have one so I can say that, as a mk3 1.8t conversion dusted me a month or two back and i just wasn't expecting it! Proper sorted body as well with smoothed bumper's etc...spotted it coming up fast towards a roundabout, slowed so i floored through and he just powered past to godknowswhatspeed  I couldn;t even catch him to give him the :afro:
