Post by: jayunit on 10 April 2008, 12:06
Hi Guys,

Just got towed home. my gti turbo has just packed up on me. Was driving along and with no warning started to make a funny noise, so pulled over and the car died. wouldnt tick over or start or nething, all electrics still fine but engine seems bit knackerd. AA man rekons it could be oil pump or could be a complete engine seizure??

Any advice

thanks

Can you get the engine to turn by putting it in gear and rocking the car?

Do you get a click from the starter or anything?  Usualy you get warning if its the oil pump, noisy lifters, heavy tapping, oil light?!?  and eventualy the bottom end will start clattering like crazy... THEN i would expect it to seize.

What sort of funny noise? usualy it will be a squeeky clattering knocky sound with accute pump failure.  As said before,  try to rock the car in gear.
