Title: MK3 bottom end on 1.8 digi top?

Just wondering if I would benefit from putting a 2.0 8v (MK3 GTI) bottom end on my MK2 1.8 8v head?  Or, would it be better to put the entire 2.0 8v GTI engine in, would performance be better, also is it a fairly straight forward swop?

Which 2.0 block is it?  You would benefit from having the 1800 head on it. I have this on mine, its the 2.0 short block and it works a treat.
