Title: Question?.
Post by: Gulfstream11 on 10 April 2008, 07:32
My old PD150 had heated wing mirrors, ideal for them frosty mornings. These past 2 mornings I needed to defrost,(first time in new GTI).Stuck the rear
screen heat on,hit the button for the front, all worked well.Half hour later still got frost/condensation on the mirrors.

My car is either broke or it does,nt have this option. The MKIV cleared these almost immediately.

Can anyone confirm that GTI,s have this function?.

Cheers..

They do. Turn the electric mirror switch around to the 12 o'clock position.

Yeah, you need the winter pack for the heated wing mirrors, seats etc.

no you dont. heated mirrors are standard on the gti, not sure but maybe standard on all mk5's. I know this as my car has NO options but still has heated mirrors!!

On the little knob on the door where you can change the angle of the mirror there is a little picture of like arrows pointing up a screen...point your knob towards that and your mirrors should start heating

Really?  If they are standard, then why are they still sold to this day as an optional extra as part of the Winter Pack?  *confused*

Yup.

MKV 08 standard GTI has the icon for heated wing mirrors on the adjuster button.

I never noticed it,typical bloke never reads the damn manual. Will try it out tomorrow.

Thanks all.

Probably for the same reason heated seats are listed as part of the winter pack when they come as standard (on the Ed30 anyway, not sure about the GTI).

Winter pack = heated seats, heated mirrors, headlight washers and heated washer jets.  My car came with the first three as standard making the winter pack option an expensive price to pay seeing as all I got extra was the heated washer jets! A bit naughty on VW's part really but I didn't realise until I'd already specced the winter pack on my car
