Something kind of similar to a recent post about fuel problems.
My 1990 8V GTI was running perfect for 375 miles of a 525 mile run until I came to roadworks. Stop start then the engine went real rough , pressing the accelerator had no effect. The engine then stalled and I could not restart. 10 mins later I tried the engine and it started. The car gave me a similar problem one more time before completing the journey with no further trouble.
I took it to RPM motors in Gt Yarmouth who diagnosed the problem as faulty fuel pumps. As the car was going back up North soon after he could not replace the pumps.
The car was booked in at another garage who had ordered the parts from VW. They arrived and of course were nothing like the ones he had removed so was unable to use them.
Enquiring at VW, the pumps with the part numbers I need have been discontinued. Is this usual that parts are obsoleted and no usable replacement substituted?
Maybe there are connectors etc that can be used.
Anyone had a similar problem?
The part numbers I require are: 191 906 092 A and 191 906 092 E.
These numbers were taken directly of the old pumps.
Any good suppliers of replacement parts in the UK?
Cheers
