I have annoying rattle from the centre arm rest...it only happens on pick up or on braking...it is clearly a small screw that is loose and rattling around in the arm rest.
I've removed the bottom plastic cover blanking plate but it appears that the screw is rattling around somewhere in the mechanics of the armrest (that bit that allows it to slide back and forth).
Has anyone taken the arm rest apart? Is there anything I should be wary of?
Note this is just that part of the arm rest mechanism that you lean on...not the surround or the rear cup holders etc.

Ha! never thought of that, guess my recent Stealer experience caused me to shy away from them....i may as well get the steering checked out at the same time. Thanks.

Actually, just had a go at taking the arm rest apart to find the errant screw that seems to be rattling around....no probs, 4 hex screws and a gentle tug and it was off.
However lo and behold...theres nothing there and the rattle continues...hmmm, the screw must be somewhere else in the centre console....wonder if its in the vents (next place to look and take apart).
I have it booked into the garage but TBH dont want to be without my car for a whole day.

Remember to stop looking when all the interior trim in out and lying in your garage
