Hey ho...
I've got a really tidy 8v golf gti, the shell is totally rot free but i want a little more power so i was thinking about a swopping the trusty 8v for a grunty 16v.
Could anybody provide me with a rough guide and cost's for the conversion. I persume its Bolt for Bolt in with the engine and then some wiring ? ? ?

bore out your 8v engine to a 2litre!!or get a supercharger strapped on!a much better result! :o

If you were to do it yourself i am sure it could be a cheap conversion if you get the doner car. In that way you can swap over the doner parts as and what are required and its better that you have everything you might need.
However if you have a later 8v digifant spec you have a great car for the basis for a VR6 or G60 conversion.

like rusty said. get a old tatty 16v mk2 and move over whatever you need. you can be sure you haven't missed anything then and even have a few bits you can sell on to recover a little costs.

if you want 16v power, bin the 8v and look for a tidy 16v.
there is alot more to a 16v than a different engine.
