Hey I'm Katy, from South East round Kent way,
and I am a complete and utter noob in the world of Golf Gti's as for the past year I have this little beast:
Pug 206 1.4L 8v
Now however I am selling the 206 and am branching out and looking at the MK2 Golf Gti 1.8 8v as a project, and as I have no knowledge of what I am looking for, looking at, i.e. prices, millage, etc lol I thought hey all you knowledgable lot might be able to help me out, as at the moment I'm part of 206info.co.uk, but their VW understanding aint so good as their pug info lol.
Cheers

Welcome, you've come to the right place, and there are quite a few here who will gladly help you, but I think most of them are in bed lol!
Unless someone is stupid enough to be up at this time (like us) I'd check back in the morning, should have a few replies by then, if not...I'm sorry

Hiya!!!
Woohoo!!! Another girl!! I had a 1.4 206 before my GTi as well  how do you find it? There are alot of French car haters here but i LOVED my 206, it was my 1st car and it was my baby. Its obviously no comparison to the GTi, but i still loved it.
Anyway......welcome to the forum, i'm prob not gona be much use to you in terms of buying as you are getting a different mk from me, but hey i'm here if ya need me
-
Hi Katy
Now topher you know I only like 405's!!!
Besides she wants a Mk 2!
-
lol not a lot of 206 love occuring here???
The 1.4 was a mint car tbh, for a first car. Nippy, 34,000miles in a 2001 car, and quite quick... downhill with the wind behind. I would keep her but she got broken into like a week ago and now doesnt feel like my car nemore, so the time has come to sell up.
-
Not had the Pug long then!
Its just fun banter so dont worry Katy!
-
Aww Boo! Sorry to hear that, its pants.
Mine was a 52 plate and had done about 17k when i got her, when i part exchanged she had done about 28k, so not bad really. I got 2.5K in part exchange. How much you looking to sell yours for?
I did think it was quite quick, managed to get mine to 110mph but she was litterally shaking, it was funny. Had the GTi ALOT faster and it still feels great.
-
Yea Rosie! Very fast!
-
OI!!!!! Dad!!! Nooooo!!!
I didn't say very fast, stop twisting my words
Just coz you know im my nu car i would whip your ass!
-
hey daughter! lol
Well you did post on here how fast! tut tut!
And yes your car would be faster than mine! dunno about the driver though!
-
Welcome and good luck with the project!
I am afraid I havent the patience and just buy a new ready made one! :nerd:

Thanks for the friendly welcome all :D

Someone's slacking here. A new girl joins and 9 days later there's still only 3 pages!
Anyway, welcome Katy.
Going for a Mk2 is a great plan. If you can afford it or find one, go for a late model 16v, so much fun and classic good looks, much better than a Mk3.
-
I did my bit!
-
Hello!
and no one has asked for a picture yet? kinda the rules to post a pic katy :) but you dont have to obviously :P
-
oh and my first car was a 106, i loved it, good handling as it was decked, smooth but the interior of course was awful lol... i understand the pug thing, your motor looks clean, u got rear lexus lights on it tho?
-

Ah yeah I did have lexus lights on it.. I liked them, they amazingly looked good imo.
