Title: r6 carbs on 1.3 driver?
Post by: rustys_mk1 on 08 April 2008, 23:50
right i'm new to this forum so hopefully you guys will have some new input......... i've got a 1300 driver 1983 its currently running the original solex carb but its lookin a bit tired. i've heard of people running bike carbs so thought this would be a cool route to go down as i don't want to do an engine conversion. will look and sound good if nothing else.

so this is what i know so far....... i'd need the carbs off a r6 (obviously) they would need re-jetting for my car, custom inlet, r6 fuel pump (not sure of the logistics of getting this to work) as standard pump wouldn't run a high enough pressure, and obviously i would need a choke and accelerator cable. i have seen this done to the small block polos on clubpolo but never seen it done on an engine this old. is this a feasable thing to do and have i missed anything i would need to do???

doesnt sound like it , probably a good rolling road session when its up and running , get the jets and mixture ajusted right

there is a bloke on passionford running R6 carbs on a 1.6 Zetec SE engine , there is a big write up about the process he went through
