Title: Door card removal
Post by: mash on 16 April 2004, 11:13
I have a Mk4 Gti 3 door and want to know exactly how to remove the door cards.  I have located the 3 screws at the bottom which i took out but cant see anymore.

Only about another 6 more screws to go then !!

There should be another one on the inside of the door, near the hinge.  Then you'll have to take the handle apart (flat head screw driver into where the two plastic pieces are joined together).  Inside that there are another 5 or 6 screws.

Once you've removed all the screws then you'll have to pull the door card up with a sharp tug.  I'd recommend putting your window down for this.  There are still a couple of electrical connectors that need to be unplugged after the door is off.

I hope this helps.

papperbear is right there are quite a few...just before you give it a 'sharp tug'...STOP, take another look and remove the 8 you have missed and then 'shap tug it!'  ;D

Right!.....i've managed to sort the passenger door out but the drivers door seems to be a bit
more tricky.

Once again i've sussed out the exterior screws but its the handle area im concerned with.
Does the plastic come off to reveal some more screws?.......was a bit worried it might snap off.
With the handle area i mean the electric window switches and also the electric mirror knob.

Cheers
