My Golf has a Cobra alarm/immob fitted. It was fitted 18 months ago. Today I decided (out of boredom!) to fit gold batt' terminals and to remove the earth wire from the block to give it a good clean. New gold terminals fitted, earthing point cleaned.... all good.... not! My car was turning over but not firing up, checked all fuses and terminals, all ok. After another 10 or so tries a few more strange things have started to happen like windscreen wipers going a couple of times, hazard lights flashing without button being pressed, alarm light flashing like mad. Suppose I will have to call out an autelectrican tom' I have an alarm key for it but kind for the life of me find out where it goes, normally on the back or side of the siren but nothing on this one. Anyone else had troubles or know what i should do.....its a Cobra 8188.

sounds lie your have confused the alarm mate, not alot you can do other than get a qualified alarm person out to sort it out cos if you tamper with it you could make it worse and it will void your cat1 if you start playing around with it.
at least your alarm is doing things as mine dont do anything, but the hazzards flash twice everytime i start her up lol

check in ya glove box for the alarm key

check your connections and then Try taking the battery off and give it a minute or overnight if it doesn't work.
Then put the positive on first then the negative and try and be firm so it goes on first time and doesn't lose the connection.
Some alarms freak out if they get a spike through it on connecting the positive to the battery or an on then off then on type feed. Might just save you a few quid calling an auto elec out if it was working fine before.
Check fuses as well to make sure you haven't blown one :)

Thanks for the replys
Forgot to mention one thing it was doing........ It was making a constant buzzing noise, normally makes a buzz noise for the first 2-3 seconds, think its the fuel pump? Anyway since I put the terminals back on the buzzing noise stayed on and the smell of petrol was horrible.
