I am now getting really nervous! GTI 05 DSG gone in for 30k Service, MOT and for them to check out some stuff before the warranty runs out.
(Stealer - Slough Windrush)
When I dropped it off as I was signing the documents there was some chap demanding his money back from the service he had just paid for! now I am worried that they are going to make a right hash of my £150 oil change! At least it also gets a free software update which I have heard improves the responsiveness. Any way if all else fails I can always keep the 1.2 Polo they gave me as a 'courtesy' car!!
I will let you know what happens later... fingers crossed for now!
-
on my knees praying for you
-
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you mate, haha!
-
I never leave mine, always wait!
Good luck though

OK Got an update!!!
some points I raised with regards to warranty after reading through posts on this forum -
1 - intermittent slight clicking noise when turning steering wheel
2 - mentioned that one of the alloys had a white worm mark on it
They have come back and said -
1 - Replace steering rack - under warranty
2 - They will replace 3 wheels !!(18" monza II) - under warranty unfortunately as one of the wheels had a curb mark on it they will not replace although I could pay £412.15 to replace it myself. hmm don't think so but 3 new wheels are better than none!
Car in now for most of week as will take time to replace steering rack. Has not had MOT nor has the service been completed but will let you know more when I know.
Cheers,
Ryan

sounds like a result. well done,...you have motivated me to get mine (05/55) in for a check on the steering rack!! That said, I have no faith in my dealer at all.
-
not as bad result, as for the one damaged alloy. is the warranty work near the kerbing ?, im guessing its the white worm ?, if worming is away from the kerbing then that alloy should be replaced also, seems most bizzare they admit to 3 for warrant but wont do other one due to kerbing !!

Result and good service. I'm sure you can source a single Monza II elsewhere
Nothing on Pistonheads currently, but..............

This power steering issue is a little worrying
The only thing I'd like to add is going straight out of a MY2006 GTI into a MY2008 ED30 the steering did feel lighter at low speeds
-
The only thing I'd be thinking is that they now have more time to bu33er things up
Hope it turns out okay and let us know if they do good too. Nice to know the good guys as well as the bad

I'll be in the same boat soon - fingers crossed nothing goes wrong.

***UPDATE***
Yesterday I mentioned that they were replacing the steering rack under warranty and also had agreed to replace 3 x 18" monza II's as had white worm marks on them (only very very faint!) they said that as the 4th wheel had slight damage they would not do this under warranty. I decided to go do there and see if I could get them to change there mind as the white marks were no where near the damage. They said they would need to take some pics and send them off to VW as did not want to do it and then foot the bill if VW declined the claim. Any how they have just called me to say its now all ok and they will do all 4 Wheels! I can not pick the car up until tomorrow though as they need specialist equipment to remove the tyres?? so tomorrow I am looking forward to some nice shiny new rims!
The moral of the story is you don't get if you don't ask and defiantly power to the people, I would never have noticed the "white worm" marks on the wheels if it were not for this forum and I certainly would not have asked for some new ones if I had not read some of the posts on this forum so a massive thanks to you all. Fingers crossed that the rest of the car is ok as it would have been in there 3 days come tomorrow! I will let you know when i get it back....
Thanks again all
-
good news, fingers crossed they dont damage the new rims putting them on, do check and check them again when you pick it up
-
Congrats on the new wheels - I had mine replaced and one had a very small "dink" in it but the milky deposits (water under the lacquer) were all round the outside of the rim (close to the tyres) so the stealer couldn't reject it. The new wheels fitted to mine were slightly different, the grey inserts are darker and the lacquer looks thicker so hopefully no more worms or milky deposits
Hopefully they will do the four wheel alignment whilst your old alloys are on... Double check your rims when you pick her up - if it's raining take a rag and dry them and check for scratches etc - they should be perfect!

**UPDATE**
Just picked car up from VW Windrush Slough
well this dealer I can recommended. They agreed to replace all 4 monza II's under warranty, They changed the wheel bearings, Steering rack, Carried out a Software update and adjusted fan jet washers all under warranty. I paid £140 for a 30k service and £50 for an MOT (which it passed)
When I went to pick it up they said "sorry sir it is not quite ready" I thought, sh!t they have buggered something up and are trying to fix it quick! but I was wrong "as we replaced the alloys and they looked nice and clean we thought we would clean the rest of the car for you" hold on you meant to be a stealer this cant be right! Any how I waited 5mins and then was taken out to the car and it looked  with the new rims gleaming in the sun.
Thank you Windrush Slough for a great Service and thanks to Claire the service girl who was very cute!

Steady on pridders!!! worth repeat visits if the staff are tasty!!.
godd result with the alloys. Were they all white wormed then?
-
Lets see it then ... cant remember what new Monza II looks like anymore
-
3 of mine have the beginnings of white worm. I spoke to my dealer the end of last week and i have 3 on order
-
You would think they would have learnt from the RC's - the 25th Anniversary wheels. How long before they start replacing the MonzaII's with a painted finish ...
