Just finished rebuilding mates '89 valver and fitted a 4-1 manifold bought off ebay. However, the manifold sounds really tinny, though it's not as bad once warm but still noticable. When he initially brought the manifold too me i noticed it was really light, even compared to my miltek and had a resonator section. Could this be the reason for the tinny-ness?!? I told him it might be worth changing the manifold but has anyone else had this problem before i get lumbered into changin it?!

sounds a bit strange, you sure the bulkhead heatshield is attached properly?

stainless manifolds always sound a bit tinny.

mine is a little bit but i guess, but you wouldnt notice over the noise of the rear box anyway

If it's a Pro cats manifold then it's the same one as mine and it too sounds Tinny although more so when it was new as to now. I find my whole stainless system (Milltek exhaust) sounds really raspy till it heats up, then it's okay. If it is one of those pro cats then i shouldn't worry as they are a quality item.

I think it may just be one of them Pro Cat Manifolds... think he paid around £200 incl. delivery. Gonna check if its sealed properly this evening. Does anyone know what the best sealant is as it stainless steel? I know the standard putty won't work and normal silicone will burn away!! :undecided:
