As above, I'm planning on keeping the GTI a couple more years so I'm contemplating either a) colour coding the front splitter, skirts and rear valance or b) doing the same but with the ed30 rear bumper. I'm a big fan of the back of the ed30 and i already have the darkened clusters so i'm thinking that is the way to go. Has anyone got any idea if the bumpers are straight swaps??
Many thanks Ryan

Straight swap. Check the awesome gti website.

i'm sure there was a thread not long ago about the gti and ed30 rear bumpers being different for some reason. i'd like to know myself as some knob end drove into the back of my ed 30, i need the whole lot. the repair garage are saying its a different part and that they can't get one, its on back order. in the meantime i've got a vectra sri- what a steaming pile of s**t  i'd like to know what else would fit, i'd pay the extra just to get my car back.

Excellent thanks.
Do you think colour coding and replacing this valance would make any difference to the insurance?

the rear bumper is a diff shape between the two im pretty sure...

theres a MASSIVE thread on this subject. perhaps hurdy could make a sticky

from what i can remember the exhaust trim is not detatchable on the ed30 but is on the gti and r32. the middle section is removable from the upper section on all three. im awaiting a milltek from awesome and then will have an r32 rear

So that means it is a straight swap then? Has anyone else done this, i'm struggling to find anything?

Right it appears that the lower 2 sections are "spoiler" and "exhaust trim" and on the gti and ed30 they are joined and if replaced are the straight swap. That post appears to be people trying to split these two sections to do the carbon fibre replacement exhaust trim. The R32 can be split but it doesnt appear anyone makes an "exhaust trim" to match the gti exhaust position.
So......the ed30 looks like an ideal replacement.
Back to insurance, shall i just say the black plastics have been colour coded and leave it at that. I'd be surprised if this would increase my premium?
Also would it be easier to give the bodyshop primed r32 skirts or will it be relatively easy for them to flatten and paint the gti ones?
Anyone know if the lower splitter on the front of the std gti is removable to be painted, dont want any chance of overspray

wouldnt even bother with insurence on this type of mod :undecided:

....Yes, OSIR make an exhaust trim (ref DTM GT1 Carbon) to match the GTI twin pipe but the question is whether it'll fit the R32 'spoiler' - The GTI exhaust pipes WILL fit the R32 spoiler. I've just picked up my R32 spoiler and am picking up my OSIR carbonfibre 'exhaust trim' from the TTshop on Wednesday - It'll all be painted and fitted in time for Sunday's GTI Spring Fest at Santa Pod.
Phone Justin/Dave at the TTshop (OSIR's sole Euro distributor) 01234 853 225 They are very helpful (especially if you mention my name Robin!)

thanks robin. Can I ask how much the r32 spoiler was from vw? Thanks Ryan
