Tried to burn some mp3s to play in the car but it doesnt seem to like how im doing them, how do you burn yours
-
I use windows media player with the bit rate set at the normal 128kbps, but I don't have the RCD500, so don't have the issue
-
I use Roxio Easy Media Creator - and just use the data option to copy the MP3 directories across and then close the CD
I usually only use 6 directories (i.e 6 albums) - these then show up as Folders on my RCD300.
Not tried with a DVD yet

Can the cd player play DVD's too??? Surely that would mean I can get 10x more music I am currently getting on my cds

I use Nero to create my CDs. One folder per album. Bit rate 192kbps (I use iTunes to rip my albums into mp3s at 192kbps). I've only got the rcd300 though.
Is your rcd5000 definitely mp3 compatible?
-
no idea ?, its new and it says so in the handbook ?, are some 5000 not mp3 then ?
-
Does it say mp3 on your actual head unit ? it does on mine
-
it does on mine too. Much better than the crappy ipod in armrest thing!

dunno, will need to look at it ?, does the ipod in my armrest have any influence on the headunit used ?

No!
Your RCD500 should say MP3 on the front, otherwise it ain't compatible.

on a side note, can you confirm that i definitely should have a radio code with the car ?, dealer is saying no but everyone else says yes, just need the ammo for when i speak to them
-
182,
did you receive my PM? I have had no further contact with Tommy Cupra, but will keep you posted.

all VW's are supplied with a radio code on a card.

LOL, you mean there supposed to be supplied with one
-
I didn't get a radio code either and mines an '08. Apparently all new radios are paired to the chassis so unless you plan on using the radio in a different car you won't need the code. I had my battery disconnected to install my bluetooth kit and when I powered everything back up the radio just turned on without looking for the code as would be the case for older units requiring a code everytime the power is disconnected for an extended period.

My dealer said the same... no code... all held on VW database.

cheers folks, to be fair to my dealer he has said if i remove the radio and give him the serial number he will get me the code (he did offer to get it removed and check it for me but i declined LOL)
