Post by: S7CYW on 05 April 2008, 21:09
Got a mk4, and fancy installing a cd changer in the boot to stop the problem of attempting cd changes whilst driving

Have found this http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2699.html (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2699.html) and just want peoples opinions really. Anyone know of leads needed etc..

Help appreciated

yeah you will need a stereo that will take the leads from the back of the CD changer, nowa days they are just phono leads (like you use for an amp) and then im not to sure on this part, but nearly all stereos have 2 jacking in ports (to put the phono leads) and you should just plug t hem into that and thats bout it really

Sorry should have said that I'm kinda hoping (well wanting) to keep the original VW gamma HU.

You see I saw this http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/1465.html (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/1465.html) first off, but don't really want to be limited to normal CD's as the capacity of mp3 cd's, is so much greater.

if you want to keep the original head unit that the car cam with then you need a cd/mp3 changer thats made for the car, you may find yourself having to go to a main dealer, but any audio dealer will be able to direct you in the right direction of what you will need as standard head units are different to most after market ones

u just need that interface u seen on the VW changer realy...n then use that to connect with the JVC changer that u saw. Same sorta plugs required...one set of phono's and a thicker round cable to power the changer from the head unit!
