I really enjoyed today it was really good to meet up in person with some of you, I was extremely happy with my standard edition 30's figures to. Well when I say standard the only addition is a carbonio. My car gave 255bhp at the flywheel and 230bhp at the wheels!! I was extremely impressed with the figures with Gaz and Hurdy's cars to, both giving over 300 bhp at the flywheel . Most of us got a ride in Awesomes Mk5 demo car which is stage 3 giving 370 bhp, all I can say is I was lost for words it is an absolute jet. I also got a free 6 hour APR trial map from Awesome while I was there which has transformed my car completely, the power now is just unbelievable, I could not be more happy. Anyways my car is going in to Awesome a week friday to have a full Milltek and remap, it will be interesting to see what difference the exhaust makes, I will also have it rolling roaded to see what the difference in bhp is than that of the standard map and exhaust. I cannot recommend awesome enough, their service is excellent and they ensured we had a thoroughly enjoyable day. Anyways good to meet you all and hopefully i'll see you soon
-
Yup, I enjoyed it thoroughly too. Finally cracked 300bhp
Decent turn out, especially from the MKV GTI contingent, seems that the R32 boys didn't want to join in  - I wonder why?
Only one word to describe the Awesome GTI demo car and that is AWESOME!
The guys working there couldn't have been more helpful and friendly.
Here are some pics of the day

Was a good day
Can't get my pictures to upload onto the net
But John's are better so it's all good!
Really enjoyed it!
Very happy with the old girl's output too.
The Awesome car was insane!
The way it held the road was phenomenal!
Was cool meeting you all
Everyone was super friendly!
-
Hey!! the R32's were busy cruising around... not measuring the size of their Bhp
-
Had a great day at Awesome too! My car seemed a little down on power for a stage 1 remap (236bhp/252ftlbs), but suspect a faulty maf so more to come when repaired!
Nice to put faces to some of the names on here. Although only a few members showed up today all were very friendly.
Thanks to Awesome for having us around. They done a great job with the cars and the turn around between runs was really quick, so quick in fact I missed most of them by turning up late!
That Demo car is a bloody Rocket - I was still giggling from it on the way home. I am still in disbelief that a fwd car can put that much power down as well as it did. What a Car.
Thanks also to Gaz who kindly took me for a spin in his sorted Ed 30. My wife hates you already as I want one of those now! A bit more nagging and I reckon she'll crack!
Eventually got home after 3 1/2 hrs.
Chris.

Did enjoy the day and was very happy with what my car scored, guessed it was about this-191.4 bhp which aint bad for a vr6.
Was nice to meet some of the rest of the gang, mk5 boys gave a good showing so well done for that.....
Although reading the rest of this thread it seems some of you got a ride in Awesome's 370 bhp, how did i miss out...?
-
did anyones alloys get marked by those straps !!
-
Had a really good day myself, well pleased with the results, my car did 305bhp with just a APR remap and carbonio and standard exhaust .
Credit goes to T30GUE making the effort of driving from Swansea and I was really liking NEGS mk5 it was just so right, as a few of the others have said Awesome's car is a rocket and thanks to Mark for taking us all out in it, think he quite likes showing it off, the mans a lunatic
Thanks again to Awesome for making everything run smoothly the service was top notch as per usual.
How was the drive home Tom, you seemed to be enjoying the extra power when I was with you on the dual carriageway and up onto the motorway, bet it made a sight 2 breathed on ED30's getting used to there full potential
Thanks to everyone for a good day
-
Really starting to like the look of the ED30 with the 19" CH's!! They look crisp

So what were your figures then mate?
-
Hurdy kept a record of the results I'm sure he'll post them but he's probably in bed he was working last night.
Think he made 304bhp of the top of my head
-
looks to have been a good day out folks, good turn out from the mk5's.
be good to see the results.
-
not such a good day for me      ran 201bhp after remap and carbonio and forge dv. Suspect a boost leek from the turbo or DV area as the noise coming from the car is very distinct hissing sound. its booked in at awesome next tuesday so will all be sorted, ill also run it again whilst im there to see what shes running. was a good morning thow and good to put some names to faces  shame i had to leave early, id have loved a go in the awesome mk5

Yeah I had a great ride home, I spent 4hrs in it yesterday, only got 2 hours left of the trial map now  The prospect of it going back to standard power makes me sad. I have to wait over a week for that POWER again :embarassed:
-
As everyone's already said, it was great meeting up with the guys on here and chatting "shop" about our VW's . Tom couldn't stop smiling after he went for a spin in his trial mapped ED30. Top respect for everyone who travelled so far to get there and to Awesome for looking after us all.
We decided to make things a little more interesting on the day by letting the runners guess their BHP before running and here are the results (rounded to the nearest full bhp):-
Member Car Est. BHP RR BHP
Daz16v VR6 190 191
MarkS MKII GTI 8V 115 113
gazbutmk5gti MKV ED30 298 305
rik1985austin Corrado 2.0 16v 136 144
joesgti MKV GTI 260 200 (had some sort of air leak)
T880MM MKV ED30 245 256
Neg MKV GTI 250 256
Hurdy MKV ED30 300 304
T30GUE MKV GTI 240 236 (poss MAF fault)
john_o MKV ED30 240 259
and for reference Awesome's DSG GTI car did 375 bhp - (I need this power!!!!!!!)
Some people left early and missed out on Mark giving demo rides in their car  and people would have paid extra for that experience
-
SUPERB
yep thats what is was.
Really nice bunch of people , and some cool cars.
old skool vs turbo power.
Very slick running from Awesome
Great clipboard work by Hurdy  , loved the install
Thanks to Neil for losing my DSG virginity , it is as good as they say it is
And std ED30 vs remapped GTI there really is very little difference.
Absolutely made up with ~ 255 flywheel which for std ED30 is  but it was darn cold
Toms also made the same figure , I reckon Ed30 values are gonna rise even further.
Gaz thanks for the offer , but i KNOW where that road leads , and I must resist until the weddings over
Rest assured APR WILL happen , be rude not to its free power (almost)
Also loved to see the 16V and VR6 getting spanked , the new units certainly have lost that vocal side.
Only a real shame to see no R32 drivers  , where were you all?
Awesome's name is well deserved on what I saw, superb
The demo car is  , REALLY surprised how well it copes with 375 bhp without an LSD.
For me the brakes are what shines , must resist lol
Thanks to kae for organising
Nice one everyone, good to meet you all.
MkV 3dr GTI ED30 Manual , 6k miles , running roughly 50/50 mix of ultimate/Tesco 99 , and here the plot
255 @ flywheel
230 @ wheels

Sounds like it was good fun.. wish I had of come now :embarassed:
Oh well there is always next time
-
I can't wait to get my Ed 30 .... should be at earliest tomorrow - latest at the weekend
Seeing all the standard Ed 30s making 250 'ish is great
Perhaps it helps explain why the test drive in a 12K miler felt so damned quick !
-
Put some miles on it then get it mapped, you think its fast in standard form, it is an absolute looney machine when its mapped, words can't describe it!!
-
U back to standard yet pal
-
I would have loved to go but if it were a long drive for people in the UK imagine what a drive it would have been for me
-
I did have a look this morning to see what Ed30's were about
I need to tell myself I dont need it, which I suppose realisticly I dont .. yet
-
U back to standard yet pal
I drove home from a friend house last night and the map was still there but im guessing I have got little time left! I have been out in it loads since saturday

I'll second that your motor looks spot on NEG, what width are your CH's they seem to fill the arches more than mine, or you using spacers?
-
Cheers guys, I sort of knew what I wanted when I got it and I dont think I need to do much else now.
No spacers, they are CH026 which is the size recommened by BBS - is it 8inch...
235/35/19 Goodyear Eagle F1 rubber
-
Same size as mine then, strange that.
-
Could be the tyres making the difference- well has to be really as there is nothing else.
-
I think your right neg, was weighing it up last night and its the shape of the Toyo sidewalls tapering inwards from the wheel rim. Was thinking of trying something different when it comes to change anyway so I think this'll help fill the arches

Definatly the case. I have worked with TOYO's for the past couple of years and if you compare 5 makes of tyre in the same size all 5 will be slightly different is width and side wall height and i will bet £100 that TOYO are the smallest. Must work with rubber rulers

Results and videos from the day are now up on the Awesome website guys
