Come with a sunroof as standard???
-
yeah i think so
-
guess i don't really need a rollcage anyway, as the chasis is pretty rigid.
-
nope - I've had a GTI without a sunroof....
-
yeah they are 5 dr is stiffer than 3 and jetta is sitffer than golf! why you wanna know about sunroofs etc?
-
i want to do track days, and a sunroofless gti would be slightly lighter and a lot more rigid.
Saying that i'm used to clio 16v's so its prob a different ball game
-
yeah i was gonna do that with a mate we were just gonna strip it out and cut away any excess metal, prob would have left the sunroof or welded a thin plate over it
-
is what stopped me doing it was finding a cheap trailer
-
Thing is, If you rolled a golf with a welded sunroof, the panel could shear :-\ which is a little worrying.
I've been threw all this with my clio, as that has a sunroof and i wanted to remove it. The only way i would of been able to do so, would be to replace the roof skin with a sunroofles jobbie. I decided against as it was too costly. The dude who was going to do the job said he wouldnt advise welding a a sheet over the hole as it the worst did happen it would get messy.
I think i'll just strip my Mk2, and leave the sunroof in and not bother with a roll cage.
