guess i don't really need a rollcage anyway, as the chasis is pretty rigid.

yeah they are 5 dr is stiffer than 3 and jetta is sitffer than golf! why you wanna know about sunroofs etc?

i want to do track days, and a sunroofless gti would be slightly lighter and a lot more rigid.

Saying that i'm used to clio 16v's so its prob a different ball game

yeah i was gonna do that with a mate we were just gonna strip it out and cut away any excess metal, prob would have left the sunroof or welded a thin plate over it

Thing is, If you rolled a golf with a welded sunroof, the panel could shear :-\ which is a little worrying.

I've been threw all this with my clio, as that has a sunroof and i wanted to remove it.  The only way i would of been able to do so, would be to replace the roof skin with a sunroofles jobbie.  I decided against as it was too costly.  The dude who was going to do the job said he wouldnt advise welding a a sheet over the hole as it the worst did happen it would get messy.

I think i'll just strip my Mk2, and leave the sunroof in and not bother with a roll cage.
