Title: Cambelt intervals for 2.0 16v Kjet lump
Post by: Horney on 05 April 2008, 14:37
I'm going to look at a new motor this week and it's on 121,000. I'm waiting to hear back about service history but I was wondering what the intervals are for these?

I suspect it's every 60K or 4 years so it's probably way overdue but I want to be sure.

Just change it anyway for peace of mind.

Only takes about an hour and the belt is about £7.

I was going to change it anyway bud but the car is located 250 miles from me and I'm a little worried driving a car that far if it's way overdue. The guy checked the history and he says he has anly a small amount for the car an nowhere is there an indication of a belt change in the whole life of the car. I don't want it breaking on my way home as that would equal divorce from Mrs Horney!

The last dealer stamp is at 65K, how far back do VW's computer systems go? If I phone a dealer will they be able to check what was done at that service?
